Notes- Waltz with Bashir, Humans, Billboards...

I stayed up late last night, watching a National Geographic program on human migration. A group was funded by NG to collect DNA samples at a festival in New York, and trace the movements of their ancestors out of Africa. I got my brothers to watch it with me.

After that, I sketched strange self portraits from the mirror. I like the way they turned out.

HEY! I recently saw an animated film by Ari Folman called Waltz with Bashir, about the experiences of Israeli soldiers during Israel-Lebanon. It was BEAUTIFUL and has haunted me for days. Every once in a while, you'll see a film that shakes your soul and that spills over with both the joyful and terrible stages of existence. Part documentary and part dramatic narrative, this movie was a coming of age story that reflects on life during wartime. For the greater part of my life, America has been fighting in a far-away land; it's easy to let the wars fade out behind the media camera lens. This film brought home a realization.

I've been looking into ad improvement/billboard liberation, inspired by work I've seen on the Mission.

In other news, I've stumbled upon a band/musician that seems interesting:
